Not only is the evening news filled with the events of the anti-terrorist war, but even our vocabulary has changed—along with our geographic knowledge. People who did not know Afghanistan from East Timor—and who could have cared less—can now recite at will facts about Kabul, Islamabad, Jalalabad and Uzbekistan.
